Buying a bike with confidence

When you choose to buy a bike, or to by a new bike it’s an exciting purchase. At Shipston Spokes we take time and care to make sure you choose the right bike for you. Too often we meet customers who have bought the wrong style of bike, or the wrong size bike, typically online. Commonly, bikes bought online are left to the customer to finish setting up - often resulting in poor working of the bike and very often, poor position adjustment resulting in riding discomfort or worse, injury.

Here are 3 reasons why buying a bike through your local bike shop is a far better experience.

1. Bike Selection

Which bike? We help you choose the right style of bike for your style of riding at the right budget for you. We size you properly to ensure the right frame size (long arms / short legs?).

We also offer Finance and Cycle to Work solutions to find the most efficient way of paying for your new bike.

2. Bike Preparation

Once your bike is delivered, it is carefully checked and prepared in our workshop to ensure it is in perfect order for you to ride away.

On collection we spend time taking you through your bikes features so you get the most out of it from day 1. Depending on the type of bike, we then set the bike up for you to ensure maximum comfort when riding.

3. Warranty and Service

All new bikes receive a free ‘check-up service’. Once you have been out on your bike for a few rides (100 miles or so) we take it in for a check-up service to check and tighten everything up. It’s also a great opportunity to make sure you’re comfortable on the bike to make any adjustments to your position on the bike.

Cycle to work Schemes

We support a range of cycle to work schemes that are a superb way to pay for a new bike. If you are employed, check which scheme your employer uses – you should be able to search in the scheme to see whether you can use the scheme at Shipston Spokes. If your employer has not registered with any particular scheme (or you work for a small business), we recommend The Green Commute Initiative – they’re great, make it incredibly simple and ensure you maximise your tax benefits.

Using a cycle scheme to buy your bike will save you up to 45% of the total cost of the bike and qualifying accessories (helmet, lights, jacket etc.), so if you have access to one it makes sense to use it.
